Anzac Day

Anzac Day was cancelled long ago but it will be intersting to see how it is celebrated whilst in Lock Down. 

The Moon is making a Trine to Pluto and Jupiter so the emotions will be very strong concerning the fear and grief around our isolation and threat the virus is posing, but the trine provides opportunities to be creative in dealing with these fears.

Mars has moved away from Pluto/Jupiter and its only aspect is in a trine with Venus so the energy has shifted to finding opportunities to feel a sense of ownership and integrity around our personal lives, particularly in the new ways we have developed to keep close to our loved ones.

There will also be great enthusiasm for innovative and practical ways to express our identity and to improve our connections with our community.   This is illustrated with Sun Uranus in Taurus and Mercury conjunct in Aries.   This stellium is in Trine to the South Node, which presents opportunities to develop strategies, utilising our talents and strengths. 

12th April, 2020, Easter Sunday, Melbourne

Mercury has been a vital planet in this drama, facilitating the spread of the virus through travel, and facilitating communication whilst in social isolation.

Mercury has moved into Aries, so there will be a shift into people becoming more assertive.  Mercury is conjunct Chiron so there will be a lot of anxiety and grief expressed. 

Pluto is still conjuct Juipiter in Capricorn but Saturn and Mars have moved into Aquarius and formed a square with Uranus so there will be lots of great examples of the collective energy emerging through innovative solutions to care for virtual communities. 

Moon is in Sagittarius so I expect a lot of virtual parties will be happening whilst in lock down over Easter.

5th April, 2020, Melbourne

Neptune is conjunct Mercury on the Midheaven in Pisces.  Communication and interactions will be more a spiritual and reflective bringing creativity and empathy into the forefront of healing. 

Pluto is exactly conjunct Jupiter and still in aspect with Saturn and Mars.  It is expected the Virus has spread exponentially and causing a lot of hardship and grief.

The interesting aspect pattern appearing is a Yod, sometimes called the "Finger of God.  The North Node and Moon are in sextile and both form a quincunx to both Saturn and Pluto.  This aspects represents a shift or a clear change of direction.  The north node and moon are presenting alternatives and there will be  adjustment to this new and startling change in direction.  However, this is only transitory whilst the Moon in early Virgo.

In Victoria 821 people have the virus and 4 people have died.

Jupiter is conjunct Pluto in Capricorn heightening the impact and magnifying the consequences. 

Uranus in Taurus is conjunct the Midheaven with many examples of creative innovative ways to use technology to cope with impact of the virus.  

Neptune is conjunct Mercury and in aspect with the Moon and the arts community has a strong presence online with the emergence of creative arts videos designed to heal and provide some context to our situation.

Stage 3 is implemented with public gatherings limited to 2 people and there will be a six-month moratorium on evictions for commercial and residential tenants in financial distress because of the economic shock associated with the coronavirus outbreak.  

People aged 70 and over  are advised to stay home and self-isolate as well as people over 60 with a chronic illness, and Indigenous people over the age of 50.  Currently it is believed that the death rate is 1.38% but for people over 80 it rises to 7.8%.

There is a limit of 10 people permitted to attend funerals and 5 people at weddings.

The number of cases is difficult to ascertain because of the lack of testing kits available.  In Australia, only people returning from overseas or people who have been with a known contact are tested.   There is a lot of debate as to the actual numbers of people in the community who might test positive if kits were available. 

Global cases are at 750,000 with US deaths are at 3,000.

Credit Crisis of 1772 when Pluto in Capricorn

We can look to history to learn about these cycles and the last time Pluto was in Capricorn was from 1762 to 1778.  It is not to say the same thing will happen today, but it is safe to say that Coronavirus has brought tremendous financial pressure with the closure of all non essential businesses, loss of income, inability to pay rent and enormous loss in the value of shares and superannuation. 

Credit Crisis of 1772

The credit crisis was a peacetime financial crisis which originated in London and then spread to other parts of Europe.  Economic growth at that period was highly dependent on the use of credit, which was largely based upon people’s confidence in the banks.  As confidence started ebbing, paralysis of the credit system followed: crowds of people gathered at the banks and requested debt repayment in cash or attempted to withdraw their deposits. From the mid-1760s to the early 1770s, the credit boom, supported by merchants and bankers, facilitated the expansion of manufacturing, mining and internal improvements in both Britain and the thirteen colonies.   The period was marked with a tremendous growth in exports from Britain to the American colonies.   Problems, however, lay behind the credit boom and the prosperity of both British and colonial economies with speculation and the establishment of dubious financial institutions.

In the 1772 Credit Crisis, when Pluto was last in Capricorn, it is in a grand Trine with Neptune and Saturn in Aquarius and Uranus and Mercury in Taurus. 

It is interesting to explore the influence of Uranus,  Neptune and Saturn on Pluto in this current situation.

Pluto in Capricorn through the ages - Financial Crisis

Pluto is a planet that moves slowly through the sky and takes 244 years to orbit the sun spending many years in each sign.    Pluto entered Capricorn on 26th January, 2008 and will remain there until January 21, 2024, engaging in a process of breaking down and then rebuilding the structures on which we depend for a successful experience in the material world.

Pluto is attempting to re organize political structures in terms of a new idea of civilizations, a global civilization within which nations and individuals may participate in freedom according to the new goals which humanity as set itself to accomplish.

Capricorn is the sign of the builder, the achiever. Capricorn is rooted in the material world and understands that life on earth requires a practical approach to the matters of earning a living. There is also a drive for success.  For Capricorn, the ends justify the means and achievement of one’s goals is the important thing and it is able to maintain a powerful focus.

When Pluto is in Capricorn we can expect the transformation of all things ruled by that sign – such as 

"our religious institutions, halls of government and political structures, the way we inter our dead and take care of our old people, construction techniques and buildings, and how we handle ownership of property."

Global Financial Crisis  2007 - 2008

The financial crisis of 2007-08, also known as the Global Financial Crisis, was a severe worldwide economic crisis.  The crisis began in 2007 with a depreciation in the subprime mortgage market in the United States, and it developed into an international banking crisis with the collapse of the investment bank Lehman Brothers on September 15, 2008.

Excessive risk-taking by banks such as Lehman Brothers helped to magnify the financial impact globally.  Massive bail-outs of financial institutions and other palliative monetary and fiscal policies were employed to prevent a possible collapse of the world financial system. The crisis was nonetheless followed by a global economic downturn, the Great Recession. The Asian markets were immediately impacted and volatilized after the U.S. sub-prime crisis.

The European debt crisis 2009 -

The European debt crisis has been taking place in the European Union since the end of 2009. Several eurozone member states (Greece, Portugal, Ireland, Spain and Cyprus) were unable to repay or refinance their government debt or to bail out over-indebted banks under their national supervision without the assistance of third parties like other eurozone countries, the European Central Bank (ECB), or the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

Brexit 2016 - 2020

Brexit is the withdrawal of the United Kingdom (UK) from the European Union (EU). Following a UK-wide referendum in June 2016, the Brexit process began in March 2017.

Covid-19 Pandemic - 2020 -

We are yet to see the final result of the pandemic  on the Global economy but already there are millions out of work, the supply of goods and services threatened and a massive loss on the stock market.  The world economies have slowed as people are forced to stay home.  The impact of the Virus will have a massive financial upheaval.

255 people in Victoria have the Corona Virus and as yet there are no Deaths.

Mars is conjunct Pluto and Jupiter in Capricorn and has taken on the responsibility for initiating and executing the plan.  Mars is also expressed as anger in the communities at the changes that are being imposed.

The Moon is conjunct Neptune,  bringing a heightened empathy to all the uncertainly we are now facing. Neptune in Pisces pursues meditative or psychic activities and removes itself from the daily world to a more peaceful, serene and contemplative environment.

Saturn has moved into Aquarius, briefly,  heralding the opportunity for reform through new ways of working and thinking.    This is seen in the innovative ways people are now working from home. Aquarius can challenge the world shift its focus from the economy and back to peoples welfare. 

One example is The Melbourne Symphony Orchestra who have been continuing their performances without audiences and streaming them live to You Tube for the world.  They are now exploring ways to perform as an orchestra from their individual homes.  

Chiron and Sun are both conjunct in Aries symbolising a loss of ego and confidence.

On March 23rd all international Australian borders are closed to non residents and WA and SA closed their borders. Victoria closed all non essential services including  hotels , restaurants, cinemas.  Even the AFL football was cancelled.  This is causing mass unemployment and Centrelink queues. MyGov website crashed because of the numbers of people trying to logon. Social distancing laws were introduced to allow one person per 4 square metres in public places.  Everyone was told to stay home as much as possible and this included encouraging  employees to work from home.

The share market has plummeted and a global recession is predicted.   There is a global shortage of goods coming from China and everyone is panic buying from Supermarkets, with goods like toilet paper and hand sanitiser running out.
